“Rīgas satiksme” is permanently monitoring passenger flows in public transport
“Rīgas satiksme” is permanently monitoring the usage of public transport capacity and passenger flows. Data of the monitoring show that some public transport runs were fuller on March 21, when changes in public transport schedules took effect. To avoid it, the transport flow has been adjusted to the situation.
Number of passengers and runs on March 21
This morning the filling of public transport was monitored in more than ten places in Riga, in which about 20 employees of “Rīgas satiksme” were also involved. Information about the usage of public transport capacity is also provided by drivers and comes from validators and other technical devices installed in public transport. As of today, ticket inspectors also participate in the monitoring of public transport flow.
To reduce the risk of the spreading of virus COVID 19, everybody must be involved, so it is important that people have as little social contacts as possible and would use public transport during the emergency situation only when it is really necessary. The society has to evaluate and change its habits as well.
“Rīgas satiksme” thanks everybody who observes the emergency situation and moves as little as possible. We also thank everybody and particularly medical staff, who are working selflessly to reduce the further spreading of the virus, as well as all members of our staff, who continue to fulfil their duties honestly every day and ensure public transport service.
